Our first Passport stamp...

We got passports for our family in the spring of 2016. Prior to this we had traveled within the US. We had some great trips including...The Pacific coast of California, Yosemite, the Redwood forest, Oregon coast, Crater lake, Seattle, Lake Tahoe, Yellowstone, The Grand Tetons, Rocky Mountain National Park, all over Colorado, Destin, FL, South Florida, and the Texas coast. BUT - we hadn't ever left the country.  We didn't have passports. So when we finally got our ducks in a row and got them, the world opened up to us! We were free to leave the US, so we decided to start with Canada. :-)

This was a big deal for us!  These were the first passports for the kids, but also, the first passports for John and for me.  We had never had passports or done any traveling abroad.  It was super exciting for us to get our first stamps in our passports when we crossed the border into Canada, after taking the ferry over from Anacortes, Washington.

Everyone loved the Ferry. I might have loved it the most.  The views, the fresh air, I just couldn't get enough.

When we arrived in Canada, we asked the immigration officer checking the lines of tourists from the ferry, to please stamp our passports because we were so excited to use them!

We stayed in Victoria, BC for almost a week and thoroughly enjoyed it.  It is definitely one of our favorite vacation spots up to this point.  We stayed on the water with a fun view of the active taxi planes and boats coming and going.  There was a great festival with street performers going on so the city was full of excitement and adventures.

Coming from Texas in July, we loved spending time outdoors and not being hot!  The weather was amazing.

We loved the lush grounds and captivating architecture of the capital building.

We hung out in parks....

Collected driftwood, caught crabs, visited the Empress, took a carriage ride, went to a petting zoo, watched street shows, visited Chinatown, ate great food and thoroughly enjoyed the city of Victoria.

Thanks for a fabulous first passport adventure Victoria, BC, Canada!  We hope to come back and see you again soon.
